That's silly, and if you make friends that way you will eventually show your true self and they may not like you. If you wanna try a new style, heck, try a new style. If you want to make true friends just be more outgoing and funny and people will like you. Join a club at school, go to local events, etc. cheesy but true. I did the same thing and abruptly changed my style from Tripp pants and lip-rings to Hollister and headbands.
