Christmas??!?!?!?!?

Ok ive asked this question no answer yet...Ok i know christmas is a time for family to get together and open presents lots of em..my question is wouldnt pepole rather get presents at anytime of the year? y is it really only on holidays or christmas that you get anything? christmas to me is a joke! santa claus??..JOKE besides who made the guy up isnt it suppose to be a celebration of jesus's "birth" as most pepole believe?Christmas??!?!?!?!?I don't celebrate Christmas, Chanuka, Yule, Winter Solstice, or any of the other "Beginning of Winter" holidays, first of all.

Second of all, Christmas was once a movable feast, which means it wasn't actually set on December 25 until the Catholic Church decided to set it there (some theorize it had to do with the nature of the proselytizing religion and bringing the Catholic viewpoint to the Pagan masses by pulling in their holidays).

Third of all, Santa Claus is an European tradition. Pere Noel, Kris Kringle, St. Nicholas -- all the same. It was Coca Cola which really brought the modern fat man in a red suit Santa Claus to us. American Santa is a marketing tool to get you shopping for stuff neither you nor your family needs. They moved Thanksgiving up a week for the same reason -- an extra week of the retail shopping boom season.

Christmas, in its traditional sense, should be a time of celebration that the Christian savior has been born, not pulling presents out from under a tree and trying to one-up one another while saving the most cash doing it. Christ didn't appreciate the moneylenders and market in the temple because the wealth of heaven and God and the wealth of the earth work against one another.

If the gift exchange means a lot to you, consider making presents this year. Give people your love, time, and skills over something they'll return between December 26 and January 1. You'll also be able to sort the people you want to celebrate Christmas with based on their thankfulness at something unique and meant for them as opposed to something you might have pulled off a shelf last-minute because you have no idea what to get them. Money comes and goes -- your time and effort are commodities people should treasure.Christmas??!?!?!?!?
I just answered the last one.Christmas??!?!?!?!?Remember the basis: the Christ child received gifts from the magi. Those were essentially birthday gifts. Since we celebrate Christ's birthday on the 25th of December, the gifts are supposed to be reminders to Christians of that event. Don't let commercialism destroy the meaning of Christmas. The word itself is taken from the Catholic mass, given for one's birthday (among other things) and Christ. Christ's Mass. Christmas.Christmas??!?!?!?!?
Bah humbug !!!Christmas??!?!?!?!?If you got presents at any time of the year, it wouldnt be as fun and exciting. its preparing for Christmas that makes it so great. And Christmas has a different meaning to everyone. IF its all about gifts to you and its just a joke, then feel free not to celebrate it and just find someone willing to by you presents all times of the year. as for me, I think I have some Christmas stuff to attend to.
Almost everything currently associated with X-mas (the tree, presents, yule logs, candles, santa, stockings, etc.) is pagan in origin. Happy holidays!Christmas??!?!?!?!?
Whats worse..... Thanksgiving.... Why have just one day of being thankful? Well I guess the same goes for "the Sabbath"... Why set just ONE day apart for God and only have ONE day holiness? For all these questions, maybe the answer is because we are very negligent and forgetful, so setting apart one day of the week/month/year for something makes it easier for us to partake in that day's purpose.
I don't agree too much with the comericial Christmas themes but I celebrate Jesus' birth everyday. For me it is a special time where I think families can come together and make memories. It is a good excuse to bring people together. I don't take all the negegitive things to heart. It's about making memories, coming together as a family no matter how angry you are at them for the messed up things they might have done to you that year. It's about togetherness, love, forgiveness, and celebrating love including the fact that God loved us so much that he sent his son to die on a cross for our sins.Sometimes we need an excuse 2 come 2 gether because there is so much hate in the world.Christmas??!?!?!?!?
You don't believe in Santa! The Christmas season is a Joke! What's wrong with you?
