You should get something a guy would need, like clothes. I know I go through clothes a lot. If he is into books or movies you could get him something like that. A CD or DVD is your best bet if you're on a student budget - if you shop online you may be able to get a couple for your budget. This is what I do. If he reads music magazines pay attention (there's still time!) to sneakily take in what he likes or anything he's coveting (eg "hmm might get that, or look they've got a new album out" remarks. Also check out his collection and see what he's been playing recently.



I'm on a tight budget too and for my boyfriend's birthday I surfed Amazon for some CDs and DVDs - ended up not paying very much but getting quite a lot of stuff.



Another trick of mine is to buy one main present (eg CD) and then pad out the gift with very small gifts (chocolate, a mug, socks, some kind of toiletry or gadgety thing) so you look super generous but stay in budget!

Hmm I guess it depends mainly on his personal interests and sense of humour? Last year I bought my boyfriend a few dvds, made him loads of shortbread (my shortbread is the best lol), a few silly little things like a willy care kit and a borat suit haha, loads more that I can't remember and I adopted a kitten for him! I went a bit over the top I think!
