What would work for a base to attach boughs to for a giant christmas wreath?

I need ideas of what will be sturdy enough to attach boughs to make a giant/huge Christmas wreath. What would work for a base to attach boughs to for a giant christmas wreath? You can buy bases for wreaths at your local hobby shop.

The least sturdy is made out of Styrofoam. Then comes grape vine wreaths, which are really quite strong, Then there is always the wire forms. All can either have the decorations glued onto or wired. I prefer wire myself.

I have many wreaths for different occasions. I also have one that I made out of pine cones and milk weed pods. It came out very nice. I use the milk weed pods is sections and add an acorn in the center to use as a bow. I have even given these as gifts. What would work for a base to attach boughs to for a giant christmas wreath?A grapevine wreath makes a very sturdy base. They can often be picked up in thrift stores pretty reasonably.

If you take some PVC pipe, and make it octogon shaped, by using fittings at an angle, it will be lightweight, and sturdy, although you'll have to use a hot glue gun to make them stick. Good luck!
