Greatest environmental disaster the country has ever seen and the EPA is nowhere to be seen, it's apparent they're worthless.
It was the job of MMS to inspect and report any problems found, in short they're responsible for the safe operation of the rig. MMS failed at the only thing they're suppose to do, it's apparent they're guilty of neglect and should be held accountable.Should both the EPA and MMS (Minerals Management Service) be held responsible for the oil spill and disbanded?Yes sir, both have a history of being ineffective, corrupt and basically worthless, although, under 0bama the epa is becoming an strong arm agency, both are guilty of neglect and contempt and should be historyShould both the EPA and MMS (Minerals Management Service) be held responsible for the oil spill and disbanded?
What do you mean by being held responsible? They are US governmental agencies. We foot the bill!
How about we hold BP responsible? We should also fire alot of top bureaucrats at the government agencies for allowing things to slide.Should both the EPA and MMS (Minerals Management Service) be held responsible for the oil spill and disbanded?I don't know that the MMS should be disbanded, but they own a huge amount of the blame and a top-to-bottom shakeup is in order at the very least. Probably some prison time too.

"Typical conservative shallow thinking. It wasn't the agencies who f蠀cked up. It was the Bush appointees who did".
That is total bullshit, and I'm a liberal. The MMS did screw up, big-time. And you have no idea who appointed who, so STFU. Stop impersonating people while you're at it. That's the lowest of the low.Should both the EPA and MMS (Minerals Management Service) be held responsible for the oil spill and disbanded?
Neither the EPA nor MMS made law reserving that space for ONLY rigs that fail standards every American rig meets. That would be the entire Democrat caucus, specifically including Obama.
Neither the EPA nor MMS made law to allow drilling ONLY where problems are harder to avoid AND harder to fix. That would be the entire Democrat caucus, specifically including Obama.Should both the EPA and MMS (Minerals Management Service) be held responsible for the oil spill and disbanded?I agree that MMS failed and yes, they should be held accountable. I think I heard that MMS is being re-organized.
the problem is we don't really know what happened to cause the failure.
A bunch of Oil Executives being basically lectured by a bunch of dopey elected officials does not mean anyone knows what the root cause of the failure was / isShould both the EPA and MMS (Minerals Management Service) be held responsible for the oil spill and disbanded?
We won't be disbanding either the EPA or the MMS. Some heads will roll, but disbanding the agencies would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Hey genius, construction of that well began in 2002. How exactly do you manage to blame the "Democrat Caucus". They didn't have have control of congress for 6 years before it was built.
Okay, so you disband them - and replace them with what? Surely you're not gullible enough to think we can just do without such agencies!Should both the EPA and MMS (Minerals Management Service) be held responsible for the oil spill and disbanded?
No. Reduce their pay to minimum wage though. Their true worth.

A whole bunch need to be terminated with extreme prejudice! The fix should NOT take more than a week. The pros are on the way (if they haven't already arrived today) and the solution : Debris field cleared sufficiently for a rubber blanket( it will leak at the edges) The process of covering with concrete begins %26amp; continues nonstop until the leak plugged , plus a minimum of 12 hours. Take break then another 6 ft over all that, then the relief wells in Two months . The logistics are not that difficult from this rough picture.
