Math problem for AP Environmental Science help?

I want to see if i got this problem right, and if not, then could you please tell me what i did wrong? thanks.

Your car gets 15 miles to the gallon and your friend's car gets 25 miles to the gallon. You decide to go on a road trip to Virginia Tech, which is 300 miles away. If gas costs $4 per gallon and you decide to split the gas money, how much money will you save in gas by driving your friends car?

So i multiplied 15 times 4. and i got 60. Then i multiplied 60 to 300 and i got 18,000.

Then i did the friend. So i multipled 25 times 4 which is 100. and i multiplied 100 times 300, and i got 30,000.

Finally, i subtracted 30,000 by 18,000 and i got 12,000.

Is this right?Math problem for AP Environmental Science help?Number of gallons of gas needed if you drive your car = 300 miles /15 miles per gallon = 20

Total cost if you drive your car = 20*4 = $80

Your cost if you drive your car = $40

Number of gallons of gas needed if you drive your friend's car = 300/125 = 12

Total cost if you drive your friend's car = 12*4 = $48

Your cost if you drive your friend's car = $24

Savings = 40-24 = $16.

Now, if by a "trip" they mean a round trip, use 600 miles instead of 300 miles and you will get a savings of $32.Math problem for AP Environmental Science help?No its not the way how you got it.

1st u have to find how many gallons will be spent for the in your car

300/15 = 20

Now the cost for the 20gallons = 20*4 = $80

Do the same with your friends car.

Number of gallons = 300/25 = 12

Cost for the 12gallons = 12*4 = $48

The amount you will save will be the difference.

$80 - $48 = $32

You will save $32 by driving your friends car.

Hope it helped:)
