How do you keep a dog from peeing on the Christmas tree?

My male dog, Harley, keeps peeing on our Christmas tree. We try not to let him get near the tree, but when he does he always seems to want to lift his leg on it. Any ideas? How do you keep a dog from peeing on the Christmas tree?take an empty aspirin/vitamin bottle (plastic), put 2 pennies in it, close it back up securely. When he looks like he's gonna do the deed, shake it, yell "NO!" and throw the bottle AT him---preferably on the ground next to him, it'll make a BIG NOISE.

You probably will only have to do it once or twice--it'll come to a point where you just pick up the "shaker bottle", shake it and he'll stop any bad behavior.

Make sure you accompany the noise with a loud "NO".How do you keep a dog from peeing on the Christmas tree?
take him out once in a whileHow do you keep a dog from peeing on the Christmas tree?Let him lift his leg on the lights--the amber arc will complete the circuit--a shocking way to teach, but effective? How do you keep a dog from peeing on the Christmas tree?
That seems pretty logical from a dogs' perspective. Sorry, I don't know. Keep him away from it as you have been doing. How do you keep a dog from peeing on the Christmas tree?I'd probably get like one of those smallish fence barrier things just to put round it then u could also decorate it!! just so it dsnt look so bad lol hope this helps gaz!!!
Wow... umm this is a tough one. Maybe you could find some spray you could put on the tree's that dogs don't like the sent of I know they have some out there... and maybe he will stop. Also you could pop him in the nose when he does it and tell him no and maybe he will stop. if your dog doesn't know that word no yet then you are screwed. bye dudeHow do you keep a dog from peeing on the Christmas tree?
Put an elastic band round his dick.
haha, its impossible. those little critters will not stop, unless they do catch a lightstrand or plug. short of that, its a given. How do you keep a dog from peeing on the Christmas tree?
Well, I know this is slightly cruel, but efficient!

Put chili powder around the tree... trust me, he won't go too close ever again.
Convert to Judaism.
Lift the tree higher?

If he get's in them fuses then he will light up......
I've heard that you should sprinkle pepper liberally around they area that you don't want "violated".That won't work if you have small children though, because they could get into the pepper. You also could try a spray bottle.Sqirt him when he goes to do it again and every time he tries it.This is very effective.Good luck and Merry Christmas.Don't eat the Yellow snow.:0)
There are many things. Whenever my dog goes near it I shake a plastic bag. If you always put a noise or smell that scares it near the tree when it gets close i'll learn.
There is a product called a "Scat Mat" that you can get at most pet stores (they even make one specially for Christmas trees). When a dog (or a cat) steps on it, they get a mild static shock, equivalent to a carpet shock. Put it around your tree. This will work even when you're not watching your dog. It worked great for my dogs and cat, who knocked my tree over 3 times before I found this product.
Put it outside
Educate it by spanking it with a newspaper, everytime you do it say "NO" and point at the tree.
Get a fake tree
