My dad got me modern warfare 2 yesterday but its one of my christmas presents. I know wher it is hidden and am dying to play it. How can i get the plastic off perfectly preserved and get it back on later? How can i play a game i cant have untill Christmas?Grab 拢3, make an extra vision account and rent it for a while, only four weeks to xmas so why dont you wait? I bet 100's of people are waiting to play that game at xmas to.How can i play a game i cant have untill Christmas?
I don't think it's humanly possible to have the plastic perfectly cut so it fits back on, but maybe the xbox marketplace or ps3 network has a demo. If they don't, just go into you're local game crazy, game stop, wherever they would have playable demos. How can i play a game i cant have untill Christmas? If you run a powerful magnet over the entire surface, and then something electronic (your computer, XBox, Whatever) It will seal the plastic back up when you run it over it
(Remember, it has to be a very powerful magnet)How can i play a game i cant have untill Christmas?

How can I help my real christmas tree?
I bought a real rooted christmas tree for my daughter first christmas. Three years on and it is looking sorry for itself. We repotted it and it lives on our deck in the UK next to the fence but does get a bit on sun and lots of rain water. It is looking a little bold and has white spots on the stem. How can I help it?How can I help my real christmas tree?If the white spots are slightly fluffy looking your tree has probably been attacked by scale insect. By the time the white bits appear the insects will probably have gone, but look closely at the trunk to see if you can see any small raised round brown scales. The best treatment has now been banned, but you can paint the affected places with meths, which works well. Once the pests have all been removed the tree may begin to recover its strength, but it would be wise not to stress it any more by bringing it indoors this year. How can I help my real christmas tree?
Conifers don't recover well from being near death - some other trees can. I think the best idea would be to buy a dwarf conifer, which will survive for a few years in a generous sized pot if not allowed to dry out, and your daughter can make it look pretty with some miniature Xmas decorations and outdoor lights. How can I help my real christmas tree?Trees should not be grown in a pot. They need room to stretch their legs, or roots as the case may be. You'll only have success if you annually put the tree into a new larger pot with new soil. Or plant it in the ground to be cut down later. How can I help my real christmas tree?
I don't have the answer, but these guys would be able to. There has never been a Christmas tree question they couldn't answer. How to hang Christmas lights from a metal carport?
The clips that attach to gutters don't work on the carport so now we're stuck with Christmas lights just sitting on the ground. I've read that duct tape is useless so what other options are there? It's metal so you can't use screws or nails. I thought about the 3M cable hooks but to buy that many would be expensive. Does anyone have any other ideas about how to hang them?

How long to Christmas trees usually stay green?
We wanted to get our tree in a week, approx 3 weeks before Christmas, do you think that it will remain plush and green?
Do you know of any tricks to keep it "fresh" looking? How long to Christmas trees usually stay green?Hello,
Most freshly-cut Christmas trees will remain green for several weeks. If you're cutting your tree yourself, any kind of fir will last through New Year's day and maybe a little longer. They'll have soft needles, too.
Spruce trees will last just past Christmas Day; they usually have sharp needles.
To keep your tree fresh, you just need to make sure it keeps drinking water. No special additives will help, they'd just waste your time %26amp; money. When you get your tree home, just make a fresh cut across the bottom, about 1/2". This removes the seal of sap that has leaked out while journeying from field to home. Then put it in a stand that holds a lot of water, using nice warm water for the first filling. After that, just check morning and evening, and fill it up if needed.

What is really the best way to keep a live Christmas tree fresh?
I've heard lots of ideas on keeping a real Christmas trees alive. I've heard that putting Mt. Dew instead of water works, keeping it in hot water, or cold water, etc.
What really works best? What is really the best way to keep a live Christmas tree fresh?I have had fresh cut trees every single year (so lets just say many many). Always cut a bit off the tree when you get it home (unless you just cut it down yourself and is the correct size). You can add a couple of nick cuts a couple of inches up the trunk..not too deep, just a couple of nicks maybe four around the trunk where there water will be able to seep into. And most importantly...water it every day. What I have found is that needles will stay on/fall off depending on what the summer/autumn season weather was like that year..whether it was wet/dry/or somewhere inbetween. If it was not a good season (dry), then no matter how much you water the tree, it will not last as well as if it was the optimal year for weather. I have tried sugared water/soda pop water/aspirin in the water/all that...just water works well. Keeping the tree away from heating vents and heat sources will help in having the tree last longer too. If you have a place a bit cooler, they seem to like this, but that is not always possible. What is really the best way to keep a live Christmas tree fresh?
I've heard putting Sprite in with the water will make it last longer. What is really the best way to keep a live Christmas tree fresh?Myth busters tested it and I think they came up with spraying it with hairspray. However I don't know how safe that is being that hairspray is flammable and christmas trees are notorious for catching fire if you put lights on them. What is really the best way to keep a live Christmas tree fresh?
i have a pine tree in my home all yearWhat is really the best way to keep a live Christmas tree fresh? You need to keep the bottom cut clean. The bottom cut of the tree is where the tree drinks up the water. It will also heal over like a scab on skin. You have to cut it afresh every week or so.
Your water can contain sugar but not something silly like soda pop just sugar is fine, or a food from a flower shop. What is really the best way to keep a live Christmas tree fresh?
Water it daily and wet some of the branches too.

What is the best gift you have ever received for Christmas?
The worst? If applicable, what do you think is the best gift you have ever given someone? I don't want any religious debates, and I know the true meaning of Christmas isn't what you receive, I just thought I would ask a fun question. What is the best gift you have ever received for Christmas?Best Gift...well my friend made me a snowglobe with a photo of us in. I love glitter and homemade stuff so that was awesome. But real gifts? I got an ipod two years ago that even today I can't leave home without :DWhat is the best gift you have ever received for Christmas?
Hm, the best gift I have given is actually a gift for myself. I give myself a 1-day "me time". I know all parents could relate to me when I say that although it is really a joy to serve and give time and attention to the family, we tend to neglect our own needs. So I see to it that once a year, I treat myself to a relaxing day, not worrying or thinking about anything stressful. And I know that this time is not only for myself but for my whole family as well. When I take care of my needs, I can give more to my family.
That said, the best gift I have ever received for Christmas is when my family sees to it that I am treated like a queen when I have my "me time". The children do all the household chores. My husband cooks his special dish, every dish is my favorite. It was really a delight!

my best friend is a real sweetheart and has always made a point to get me really cool presents when she can. cute socks, tee shirts, once she got me a hot pink stuffed teddy bear (hot pink is my favorite), she has gotten me a really cool necklace...some neat stuff. but last year or maybe it was the year before that, i forget, she didn't have the money to buy everyone cool stuff, so she made a big batch of white chocolate fudge with red and green peppermints in it and wrapped it real nicely. my best friend is a real sweetheart and has always made a point to get me really cool presents when she can. cute socks, tee shirts, once she got me a hot pink stuffed teddy bear (hot pink is my favorite), she has gotten me a really cool necklace...some neat stuff. but last year or maybe it was the year before that, i forget, she didn't have the money to buy everyone cool stuff, so she made a big batch of white chocolate fudge with red and green peppermints in it and wrapped it real nicely. I was impressed, the fudge was great and it was thoughtful. What are good Christmas presents for your close friends?A picture of the two of you in a nice frame that you decorated yourself is always thoughtful. How can I keep my rowdy kitten from destroying the Christmas tree?
We haven't had him during a Christmas yet, and he plays with/eats everything. I don't want him to destroy the tree (which is artificial) or any of the ornaments. How can I keep my rowdy kitten from destroying the Christmas tree? Why do you have your tree up this early. How can I keep my rowdy kitten from destroying the Christmas tree?
I have 4 cats. Needless to say I'm not going to bother putting a tree up this year!!!How can I keep my rowdy kitten from destroying the Christmas tree?Don't leave him in the same room with the tree alone if you can help it.
Make sure to hang everything out of his reach or accept that some bulbs are going to hit the floor.
Make sure all electrical cords are out of the kitten's reach.
It's VERY important to make sure that the kitten cannot get at any tinsel. When the cat's stomach starts to digest the tinsel, it becomes like razor blades inside them. It can also tangle in their guts.
Give the kitten it's own Christmas decorations to play with but make sure they are safe and something you don't want to step on in the middle of the night. How can I keep my rowdy kitten from destroying the Christmas tree?
buy a spray bottle and put water in it and spray him when he does something wrong. How can I keep my rowdy kitten from destroying the Christmas tree?dont let the cat in the room whilst you decorate. Then if it goes near it later spray it with a fine mist of plain water. Repeat until it gets the message. It worked for our 3!

There is this spray to keep animals from going around certain areas you don't want them around, you could spray it on your christmas tree or give him a little spank when it gets close to the tree - just a little discipline.
how?well wat you have to do is diseplin every time she makes a mess maybe a light hit on the butt. you got to remember it is a kitten.and plus all you have to do is keep her intertained in a room. with the door closed but not avery small room like a closet maybe a bathroom would do good. keep the soap away or anythingshe can eat or distroy. How can I keep my rowdy kitten from destroying the Christmas tree?
The first year we had our two new Siamese boys, we only decorated top third of the tree.....with only unbreakable things.
We put fine wire around the middle of the tree and tacked it to the wall.....after it had "fallen" over twice....with a kitten inside it.
No lights...they chew the wires. No tinsle....they can eat it and get an obstruction.
Wasn't a great looking tree, but we all had a great Christmas anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try putting your tree in a corner and wire it there (tap a nail in the corner and wrap picture wire around your tree and around nail) then get some plastic ornaments and put a few at the bottom and your best and favorites at the top out of its reach. It works for the little ones to. your good pieces don't get broken and they don't get cut. Good Luck and have a great holiday.
I had a cat who liked to climb the Christmas tree. We put two eye bolts in the wall behind the tree and tied it to keep it from falling. We didn't use any tinsel and bought unbreakable ornaments. Ours didn't bother the lights but you might want to keep those put away until next year.
Good luck and if you catch him in the tree take pictures.
keep him out of the room. it could be dangerous if he ate an Christamas ornament/tinsel/decoration etc....
TAKE THE CAT AND CHAINSAW AND YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!
Oh goodness, cats love Christmas trees. If any of your ornaments are super-reflective (as in they shine lights on the wall), you may want to put them at the back or not use them at all--cats love to chase the lights. He will probably climb the tree and play with the ornaments no matter what you do. Just be sure to stop him whenever you see him and give him a firm, "No!" There is no way to prevent them from doing what comes naturally at first, but some cats will eventually get the idea. Others---well, they will always be convinced that there are birds hiding somewhere in that tree just waiting to be eaten. Be sure to NOT plug in the lights on the tree unless you will be in the room, as artifical trees tend to fall over when cats climb them and that could be dangerous if plugged in. That's the best advice I can give you.
i would set my tree out early (like now), with no ornaments on it and when the kitten goes near it, spray him with either a water sprayer or I use the compressed air in a can you use to dust your keyboard and electronics with, then say very sternly "NO", when you have done this for a few weeks and your kitten now knows what "NO" means, you will have taught him what "NO" means and can use it other problem areas of yr cats behaviour. when you have voice control over the kitty, then start putting a few ornaments on your tree everyday, paying attention to tell him "no" when he gets near them, and using the water or compressed air when he is just "TOO" tempted and forgets to listen..........good luck!
oh yeah, after reading the other answers, please skip using tinsel this year, i do know that can really hurt yr kitty if he ingests it......and i like the idea of fishing wire added around the tree stem and tacked to the wall to avoid the little critter from knocking the whole shebang to the ground!!

is there a way for a cut christmas tree to stay alive and eventually grow roots and be replanted? Can a cut christmas tree grow roots?dili na! *ngisi*
Will your wrist grow a new hand after you cut it off? THIS is what you are asking the Christmas tree to do! *ngisi*Can a cut christmas tree grow roots?

If the tree comes out of dormancy enough, and the water has enough nutrative value in it (talk to an Horticultrualist)Can a cut christmas tree grow roots?A mature tree once the roots are gone that is the end of it.
Shrubs and other plants can be rooted
but a grown tree would require more water and nutrients than it's capable of getting with out roots.
The roots are the mouth of the tree. Can a cut christmas tree grow roots?
No definitely not.Can a cut christmas tree grow roots?Unfortunately no.
While some trees may develop roots from cuttings, most Christmas trees are evergreen conifers and they only grow from seed (pine cones). Can a cut christmas tree grow roots?
No, it will not grow roots no matter what you do. If you put sugar in the tree's water it will extend it's life, but don't expect miracles. It's not a clone in a hydro grow-op.Can a cut christmas tree grow roots?
no.
cut your stomach and liver and heart out, the body will not live. the roots, or rather the root ball, is how the tree "eats" from the soil.

Why are Liberal school teachers and principals in so many States trying to outlaw Christmas tree ornaments?
Along with Santa Claus candies and candy cane, saying it goes against their beliefs, seeing they are Atheists, and some of their students are Atheist,
do they have the right to take the fun part of Christmas away from the kids,?

Chelmsford, Mass. - A Chelmsford elementary school has placed restrictions on the holiday gift-shop.
The Byam Elementary School has decided to ban Santa, candy canes, stockings, and all Christmas, Hanukkah and other "religious items" from being sold at the annual holiday gift shop.
Two mothers, Kathryn McMillan and Kathleen Cullen, who both have children at Byam, met with the PTO Thursday night in hopes they would reconsider, but school officials said no.
McMillan told the Lowell Sun that red and green tissue wrapping paper was also crossed off the list because it looked too "Christmasy."
Superintendent Donald Yeoman says Byam Principal Jane Gilmore is in charge of the rules at the school鈥檚 gift shop and that the rules were mandated so that no child would be left out
I think that is the same place ICE was talking about, who knows what else they teach the kids there, probably have singing Obama praises instead of Christmas Carols,

Really?..that's weird considering my kids have already brought Christmas projects home this year. My youngest made an ornament with her name %26amp; picture on it. And I'm sending a bag of candy canes to school on Monday for their Christmas party. Hmmm...first I've heard of this.

MERRY CHRISTMAS...GOD BLESS US, EVERYONE...Why are Liberal school teachers and principals in so many States trying to outlaw Christmas tree ornaments?
They dont want to offend the 15 to 20 percent of people that dont celebrate christmas. They'd rather offend the 80 to 85 percent that do.
If they don't like it they can whinge elsewhere, it has been going on long before they were born and it will continue long after they pass.
They aren't. It must be very convenient to make stuff up and then be outraged about the stuff you just made up. Saves a lot of time I am sure.
i dare any atheists to tell me or my family not to say Merry Christmas.
Liberals believe in satan.
Liberals practice their own religion, like following Obama, or having faith in Al Gore, or believing in democrats as their saviours. To have any competing beliefs is unacceptable to liberals.
Also, to a liberal, the highest authority in their lives is the government. Religion is about higher authority, above some liberal government, and this too is just not tolerated by liberals.
Teachers these days are teaching students WHAT to think rather than HOW to think on their own, hence we have a whole generation of brain damaged losers who think liberals have all the answers. In their minds, the establishment clause means nobody can talk about religion, nobody can promote anything that smacks of a religious belief, despite the fact that Christmas is a long held tradition in the USA, and does not represent an establishment of a religion.
Oh well, liberalism is a sickness with no cure. One thing that often changes liberals into becoming conservatives is when they start a business, try to hire employees, and begin to deal with the ridiculous number of rules and regulations and expenses involved with creating a job. Then they begin to see what's wrong with liberals. It's called "growing up" and opening up your eyes. Notice how liberals generally are students, teachers, actors etc. who don't live in the real world where the rest of us live. We create jobs, create the standard of living that liberals enjoy but don't understand.
Your answer is simple. Separation of church and state.
If you don't like the basic beliefs this country was founded upon, I suggest these people send their children to private school.
They could sue, and they would loose. Now go re-read the constitution.
PS... Merry Christmas.

How much do I spend on my sisters kids for christmas?
I have three sister with kids that I have to buy christmas for. One sister has 5 kids age from 7 years to 1 year. Second sister has 2 kids 2years %26amp; 5 years old. Third sister has one child going on 2 years. On top of this amount of kids(equaling 8 kids) I have my own children (3) and kids on my husbands side to buy for. Thank you.How much do I spend on my sisters kids for christmas? My Husband and I have a total of 21 nieces %26amp; nephews . For Christmas we try not to go over $15.00 per kid . It may seem hard to get anything for $15.00 - but I try to hit the sales , or just give gift cards. The $15.00 adds up quick for 21 kids! :)How much do I spend on my sisters kids for christmas?

Otherwise I'd shop in bulk and for sales. You can make little goody bags for them which might be cheaper. Or even buy a movie with microwave popcorn and some candy (something along those lines anyhow) and give that to the children as a whole and not worry about buying individually. How much do I spend on my sisters kids for christmas?

We have 1 niece who is almost 5 and 1 nephew who is 2 1/2, but I also have 3 best friends that have a total of 5 kids between them ranging from 8 months to 4 years, plus 1 of my own who is 18 months, so we end up having to buy for 8 kids. We always set a limit of $5-$10 a kid(besides me daughter we spend about $200). I get some great toys off the clearance aisles that don't normally cost more than $7 and the kids never even know they're off the clearance aisles.

Or make sure the family knows that in these times a budget of no more then 15$s can be spent... Or if you guys have a Christmas party.. Maybe get all of them little goody bags with a few small things in them.. That way they all get the same thing.

Also do u know of a place where i can watch all the nickelodeon christmas specials? Can I watch the Jimmy neutron Christmas special anywhere online or youtube?I just looked for all the old specials too. I know Doug and Hey Arnold used to be on YouTube, watched them for the last few years, but apparently the commentary on some of the clips say that Viacom (Nickelodeon's parent company) flipped out a couple weeks ago and took off everything that violated copyright. So right now I'm currently looking fo them on other video sites too, I'll let u know if I find anything. I think I'm gonna try LimeWire or BitTorrent as well.

What clothing can I buy something going to Sweden for Christmas?
My best friend is going to Sweden over Christmas and I want to get her something for her trip. She's scared of being cold (we're from California and neither one of us has ever been in the snow for an extended period of time). Are there any suggestions as to what I can get her that would be useful for her trip? What clothing can I buy something going to Sweden for Christmas?Just a bunch of winter clothes i guess. Winter in sweden isn't AS cold as one would expect, since they still get some warm currents from the Gulf Stream. Anyways, a winter coat, gloves, scarf, hat, pants, etc. (everything that you don't need in california haha)What clothing can I buy something going to Sweden for Christmas? If she doesn't speak Swedish, how about a Swedish language book for begininers so she could learn a few phrases? Also mittens are super. Lip balm as chapped lips are the worse! Moisturisor as your skin will become dry, cracked and damaged with the cold temperatures. Ear muffs and long socks are cute! What clothing can I buy something going to Sweden for Christmas?I think you should buy her a pair of wool boots, which is the best to wear in cold winter!

Christmas ideas for my boyfriend without spending money?
Me and my boyfriend both agreed we wouldn't spend money on each other for christmas. So i have no idea what to give him. Last christmas and during his birthday i drew pictures for him but i want to do something different this year.
I cant write poetry and we are in a long distance relationship that makes things harder.
He is into video games, especially world of warcraft, and he likes anime.
Any ideas?Christmas ideas for my boyfriend without spending money?well one idea is that of ur into gaming too then u can join World of Warcraft as a present. if ur not then u can find out which anime he is really into now and just download (this also include bittorren) the whole series for him and then mail it. the only cost would be the electricity bills LOL. but shouldn't be a lot 5 bux max. Christmas ideas for my boyfriend without spending money?Heh, my relationship began long distance as well. Anyway, heres some gift ideas for things I've done/given:
-A shirt (typical I know, but maybe you can get him a WoW shirt from somewhere like www.jinx.com)
-A scrapbook (its pretty cheap to put together, all you need is a printer, some cute random decorations around the house and small scrapbooks and the paper are pretty cheap)
-A calendar that you fill out once daily, involving something the two of you did that day, talked about, how you felt etc (Actually managed to do this for all the days in the year...used index cards and 3 of the binder holder things, I wrote half of the year on the backs of the cards to make it less bulky and to save index cards)
-Something involving inside jokes, such as nicknames
-A bulletin board like thing with pictures, quotes, decorations etc (you can send it in one of those big post office envelopes)
Can't remember what else, but those were my proudest accomplishments =PChristmas ideas for my boyfriend without spending money?make a book of love coupons like this coupon good for a guys night out and this coupon good for a free massage . you can google love coupons online they will have more ideslittle ceasars

What are the effects on children of NOT celebrating Christmas?
My husband and I don't celebrate Christmas. He thinks its too commercial, and I think I shouldn't celebrate a "religious" holiday that I am not affiliated with. I don't celebrate Hanukkah just because, why Christmas? Anyway, our families are slightly annoyed that we aren't celebrating, but they have dealt with it. The question we keep getting is "But you are going to celebrate it once you have kids, right?" Do you think it is bad for a child not to celebrate a holiday when everyone around them is? I know that Christmas is becoming very secular, but even taking away the religious aspect, my husband would still not like the gross commercialization. Any thought? Thanks.|||I personally feel there is so much more to Christmas than just the commercialism and religious aspect, and I celebrate each aspect in my own way. Christmas isn't just about receiving gifts, it can teach an important lesson about giving to friends, relatives, and even strangers. It is also a time that is very family-centric...and every year when this time rolls around, it serves as a reminder to take a deep breath, rearrange my schedule, and just do nothing but spend time with my family.
There is definitely a reason why Christmas brings joy to people through the whole season and not just one day - the lights, the closeness, the giving, the warmth, the magic, etc, all make people very happy. For me, my family's Christmas traditions have so little to do with presents. It is about us taking time to come together, listen to cheery music and decorating a tree with ornaments we have collected over the years. The time pieces bring back memories, and on Christmas Eve we always stay up really late and watch movies together until we fall asleep.
There are plenty of reasons why people who are not Christians still celebrate - it's the spirit of Christmas that matters most to them. You can still share the holiday without going overboard - maybe by only giving a small amount of gifts, or having a limit of $100 dollars, or doing giving him items that he NEEDS (clothes, school stuff, etc). The reason the holiday has kept going is to see the looks on people's faces.|||Why don't you ask a child of Pagan heritage or a child of Jewish decent, they don't celebrate Christmas, Jehova Witnesses don't celebrate Christmas. I think it's up to the parents to decide what holidays to celebrate and not celebrate there is nothing wrong in not celebrating the commercialism of the season.|||i think that it is your choice, but if and when you have kids they will ask questions, and more than likely have a christmas program and party in school.|||I think it's just fine. When your kids reach the age when they start asking questions; answer them. Remember though--forcing your beliefs of commercialization and non-religion are just the same if you forced them to be Christian when it's just not their thing.
To be open minded you must be open minded to everything.
I think it's just fine over all. If that's how you feel go for it!|||Well, it sounds like your relatives are talking about assimilating into the culture...woudl your kids be outcasts when friends come over for hot chocolate and see no tree? Maybe. Would your kids feel dumb not knowing the important religious connection between Christmas and why people celebrate it? Probably. It's up to you how you choose to raise your kids, but do you think a little Reason for the Season would kill them? And do you really think they have a concept of "gross commercialization?" No. There's nothing bad to exposing your children to one of the most cherished traditions/holidays of the year. There's already enough bad in the world; why not let them have a little joy while they're young enough to appreciate the magic? Just a thought.|||I think all kids should celabrate christmas or there gonna feel sad cause everyone else gets to look forward to the hoilday and They don't or at least do something fun on the day.|||I think if you have kids you should celebrate....i remember going to school with a girl who didn't celebrate and she was the only one in our grade who didn't. she was so sad to this day i feel bad for her....i think in todays world you really should no matter what religion....i feel horrible for kids that don't celebrate to have to go back to school when all the other kids and teachers are talking about what they got for xmas....|||Our family did not celebrate Xmas, I have 11 brothers and sisters, as children it never bothered any of us, our parents raised us in a matter of great character, I still do not celebrate any holiday, and it is not because of the any religious reason,( my father %26amp; mother were both of different faiths and my father respected my mothers faith.)
People forget what Xmas, Easter %26amp; all the other holidays are really about.
I never felt left out, or deprived, my family were showered with gifts all the time, not just one day of the year.|||There are lots of things I consider to be part of 'celebrating Christmas' that are neither religious nor commercialized (since I am not religious and try not to be commercialized).
We put up lights and drive around town to see others', put up a tree and make ornaments like paper chains and popcorn strings, drink hot chocolate, eat together, make crafts, make cookies to give as gifts to friends and neighbors, build a bonfire to lead Papa Noel down the river (I'm from south of New Orleans ... and let me tell you, for the poorer families here, Papa Noel is sure not commercialized; he brings them school clothes and treats like oranges and MAYBE candy), etc.
I think the question is, how much of it will you celebrate? Even if you don't sing religious carols and buy presents, will you put up a tree and stockings? Will he/she know about Santa Claus/Papa Noel/whatever you call him? Could you give homemade presents as gifts to avoid the commercialization (i.e., celebrate the REAL spirit of Christmas)?
I think whatever you choose to do, there are ways to make it not religious and very uncommerical. You can celebrate it at any level you wish. My nephews and nieces celebrate Christmas the way I described above and they don't feel deprived at all. They possibly get ONE 'commercial' present. Since their friends at school all refer to it as 'Christmas', that's what we call it now, but before that, it was our Winter Solstice celebration. And the winter solstice is a very real part of human life on earth ... helping neighbors through the winter, giving generously of yourself to aid those less fortunate during hard, hungry times ... that's what Christmas actually comes from. If you're comfortable celebrating those principles, as we are, it wouldn't be too hard.|||I grew up a Jehovah's Witness and did not celebrate Christmas, birthdays or man-made holidays. I grew up just fine. You don't miss what you never had and I never felt left out.
Now that I'm married and have 2 kids, we celebrate Christmas and birthdays and honestly, I could live without Christmas (which just happens to be my birthday). I don't believe in the reasons behind the holiday and I think my husband just likes to buy presents for our kids.
If you don't want to celebrate it then don't, but make sure you are firm in your reasons and don't let anyone make you feel bad because you decided to go against the majority.
Just remember, you don't have to do what everyone does, but you should respect their choice to do it.|||well i am a jehovah's witness and i have grown up not celebrating any holidays, only the memorial of christ death. i have to say that i dont miss out on the holidays i dont fell left out i mean we have parties and get gifts all year round just because, so i dont know if that helped any, but try having a just because party where there are presents and friends and games...this is enjoyed just as much..|||When my husband was growing up he didn't celebrate Christmas or any other holidays due to his parents religious beliefs (Jehoviah's Witness)... When we got married he began celebrating the holidays with me and our children (his decision)... He now goes completely overboard decorating anything that wont move fast enough waking up at 4 am Christmas Morning and clearing his throat and moving around in bed until he "accidentally" wakes me up (about 4:05) then he says "Oh since your up we can open presents and stuff right?" (I learned the first year saying no it's too early doesn't work he just continues to clear his throat and wiggle til I get up)...
He missed out on the wonder and amazement at the gifts (not those he eceived but those he would have given)... He is now trying to make up for a childhood without that and feels he was cheated...
His younger brother feels the same way and now celebrates the holidays with his wife and children as well...
I know several other people who grew up in the same religion as my husband who feel exactly the same and have chosen to celebrate Christmas and all other holidays as adults...
They are or will be your children and you and your spouse will have to decide what you think is best for them...|||it is clearly your choice, but if you want your child to have a dull and drab childhood and to grow up really up tight, then go ahead dont celebrate Christmas.|||nothing; if you have no religion, you have nothing to pass onto your kids. By the way, make sure you work on Christmas Day, okay?

Can cats get sick if they chew on a real Christmas tree?
My kitten is very curious and I found him chewing on a branch of our Christmas tree. Will he get sick if he does that, or is it okay to let him chew on the branches? Can cats get sick if they chew on a real Christmas tree?Yes. Look for vomiting. Most of the time that is about the extent of it. Do NOT put tinsel on the tree and watch the ribbons on packages. If your cat swallows any string like item it can cause an obstruction. 1. Use a 23cm ring tin and brush with a little oil. Chop all the dried fruits into small pieces and place in a saucepan with the apple juice; bring slowly to the boil over a moderate heat. Then simmer gently, covered, for about 4 minutes or until the fruit begins to absorb the liquid.
2. Remove pan from the heat and leave, covered, until completely cold. Stir in chopped pecan nuts, the ginger, lemon zest and juice.
3. Preheat oven to 150潞C. Beat the sunflower oil, egg and brown sugar together until smooth.
4. Sift the flours, baking powder and mixed spice into a large bowl, tipping in any bran left in the sifter. Add the soaked fruit and the egg mixture; stir well to combine. Stir in enough milk to make a fairly soft mixture.
5. Spoon mixture into prepared tin and smooth the top. Bake for 1 1/4鈥? 1/2 hours or until risen, firm and golden brown; it should just be beginning to shrink away from the side of the tin.
6. Leave cake to cool in the tin for at least 1 hour before running a knife around the edge and turning it out. Wrap in baking (parchment) paper and foil. Store for 2鈥? weeks before serving, to allow the flavours to mature.
7. To decorate the cake, heat the jam with 1 tsp water over a low heat, then press through a sieve. Brush the top of the cake with the jam. Gently press the cherries, nuts and candied ginger into the jam. Dust with sifted icing sugar.

*Dried figs are a good source of fibre. Drying the fruit concentrates its nutrients and makes it a useful source of calcium and iron.
*Pecans are a source of protein and unsaturated fats. They also provide useful amounts of vitamin E, fibre and folate.
Try this, too鈥?
*For easier slicing, bake the cake in a long loaf tin.
*Soak the fruit in cherry brandy or a liqueur of your choice, instead of apple juice.

Is it okay to combine a Christmas Card and Thank You note?
We live out of town from most of our family, and some gifts have been shipped to us before I've even gotten the Christmas cards done! Do you think its okay to write a Thank You note inside the Christmas card, or do they need to be separate? Is it okay to combine a Christmas Card and Thank You note? There is no difference whether you write thank you note inside the christmas card. do what you think is best for you. That is part of being creative in so many ways.Is it okay to combine a Christmas Card and Thank You note?

A thank you note needs to be separate and hand written. Is it okay to combine a Christmas Card and Thank You note?
Sure sounds fine to meIs it okay to combine a Christmas Card and Thank You note?i think it would be okay.
yes write thankyou in the christmas card - a little paragraph thanking them xIs it okay to combine a Christmas Card and Thank You note?
i think it is perfectly fine to combine a christmas card with a thank you note. what i suggest doing is to enclose inside the christmas card a seperate sheet of stationary that has the thank you note part on it. just fold it up and stick it inside the christmas card and you should feel totally fine about it. i wouldn't mind at all if someone sent me something like that.
Emily Post ( do you know who she was?) would have said no.
She dictated old fashioned etiquite rules.
Today, things are much less formal - sure, go ahead and thank someone in a christmas greeting. Its nice that youre thinking of sending either. Is it okay to combine a Christmas Card and Thank You note?
Yes, you can include a personal message inside the Christmas card.
At the end of the day it doesn't really matter that much, they would appriciate a thank you note, and writing it on an xmas card saves paper.
-Please vote my answer the best! Thank you!
I know what it's like to be far from family during the holidays - and my Mom always sends things early, too!
Perhaps you could write your Christmas greetings inside the actual cards, and then tuck a personal thank you note inside on a separate sheet.
Absolutely. The point is remembering to thank them for the gifts.
I was married last year on Dec 1 and my thank you cards were of a Christmas appearance and they did double duty.
Most people were just amazed that my hubby and I had them out so quickly.

Christmas question- How did the Christmas traditions start?
I wanna know how did the Christmas traditions start.Christmas question- How did the Christmas traditions start? It started as a pagan feast called Saturnalia. (There is no difference in between Ancient paganism or current paganism its all unrelated to Christ). Ancient pagans worshipped false gods just like current pagans worship false gods.
The Roman festival of Saturnalia, Dec. 17-24, moved citizens to decorate their homes with greens and lights and give gifts to children and the poor. The Dec. 25 festival of natalis solis invicti, the birth of the unconquered sun, was decreed by the emperor Aurelian in A.D. 274 as a Winter Solstice celebration, and sometime (later)…was Christianized as a date to celebrate the birth of the Son of Light.”
The early Romans were not celebrating Christmas but rather a pagan feast called the Saturnalia. It occurred each year around the beginning of winter, or the winter solstice. This was the time when the sun had taken its lowest path across the sky and the days were beginning to lengthen, thus assuring another season of growth.
“If many of the trappings of the Saturnalia, however, seem to parallel what so many of us do today, we can see where we borrowed…our holiday traditions. And indeed, it has been suggested that while Christ was most likely not born in late December, the early Christians—then still an outlawed sect—moved Christmas to the time of the Saturnalia to draw as little attention as possible to themselves while they celebrated their own holiday.”
The Saturnalia, of course, celebrated Saturn—the fire god. Saturn was the god of sowing (planting) because heat from the sun was required to allow for planting and growth of crops. He was also worshipped in this dead-of-winter festival so that he would come back (he was the “sun”) and warm the earth again so that spring planting could occur. The planet Saturn was later named after him because, among all of the planets, with its rings and bright red color, it best represented the god of fire!
Virtually every civilization has a fire/sun god. The Egyptians (and sometimes Romans) called him Vulcan. The Greeks named him Kronos, as did the Phoenicians—but they also called him Saturn. The Babylonians called him Tammuz (as Nimrod, resurrected in the person of his son), Molech or Baal (as did the Druids). These were all simply the various names for Nimrod. Nimrod was considered the father of all the Babylonian gods.
There is a lot more to this and i strongly suggest you do a lot of research and examine both sides the Roman Catholic mans idea which is were the world gets this idea that Christ was born on December 25th, and the true doctine of God the Bible.
Which never specified what day Christ was born on which I think is for a reason Jesus only said remember him through passover 1 Corinthians 11:23-26. The bible does mention the season he was born in and it wasn't winter its in the new testament.
(There is no difference in between ancient paganism or current paganism its all not of Christ the one true God). Ancient pagans worshipped false gods just like current pagans worship false gods.Christmas question- How did the Christmas traditions start?
Just a pity it is a load of nonsense.
Samples: Saturn was emphatically NOT the Sun God. That was Apollo.
Dec 25th was NOT the solstice in 274 AD.
With Jesus Christ being born.Christmas question- How did the Christmas traditions start?came from germany the tree
nimrod king was born 12-25 orig pagan festival...then was used to convert them to Christianity...so now its about Jesus!Christmas question- How did the Christmas traditions start?
Well I answered your question about the date. Most of the traditions of Christmas have evolved over the hundres of years since. They generally started as local folk customs so noone bothered to write down (if they could even write) how they began. Hence the simple answer is we don't how almost any of them started. All we know is when someone first mentioned them in writing and that is in all cases well into the Christian era. There is no evidence that any of our Christmas traditions came from any pagan religion.
The charge of "paganism" can usually be traced to the reformation. The protestant reformers wanted to get rid of anything in the church which could not be directly traced to the bible. Anything which could not be traced was described as "pagan" - simply meaning not proper biblical christianity. They did NOT mean "a hangover form ancient paganism", which is what some people falsely assume.Christmas question- How did the Christmas traditions start?
Accepted - Christmas is the annual time of Love and Harmony as we celebrate the birth of our Savior.
Celebrating at this time of year came from the festival of the December Solstice (previously mentioned). As shepherds and flocks were around, Jesus was "Not" born at this time but probably a little earlier in the year.
Tree - German tradition I believe to symbolixe that since days were getting longer, another growing season wasnt far off.
Candles in the window - to let travelers know they were welcome....obviously only welcome during the Christmas season. ( a personal note, we leave our porch light on at night for the same reason year round)
Giving of gifts - tradional of the gifts of the Magi however people dont realize that they showed up sometime between birth and two years (based upon the order for all 2 year or younger males slaughtered), three wisemen only because three gifts were mentioned there might have been 4 or 5 or 6 and maybe only one bought all three gifts (Bible doesnt say).
Stockings - placed over the fire to dry after washing

Candles in the window - to let travelers know they were welcome....obviously only welcome during the Christmas season. ( a personal note, we leave our porch light on at night for the same reason year round)
Giving of gifts - tradional of the gifts of the Magi however people dont realize that they showed up sometime between birth and two years (based upon the order for all 2 year or younger males slaughtered), three wisemen only because three gifts were mentioned there might have been 4 or 5 or 6 and maybe only one bought all three gifts (Bible doesnt say).
Stockings - placed over the fire to dry after washing

What Hollywood movies have a setting that happened during Christmas Time?
I'm starting to prepare a series of Movie Marathon for my organization that will be happening on December 2009. I'm particularly looking for Hollywood movies whose setting happened during Christmas. The themes of the movies do not need to be about Christmas; but the setting should be Christmas Time.
Two immediate examples that comes to my mind are
(1) Serendipity (John Cusack, Kate Beckinsale)
(2) The Family Man (Nicholas Cage, Tea Leoni)
Any other suggestions? I need seven more, at the minimum. Many thanks! What Hollywood movies have a setting that happened during Christmas Time?Bad Santa

The Cathedrals and the Museum of History. The Christmas parades.
Someone special to share it all with, and a dusting of snow!!

If you are interested in doing touristy things/engaging in conspicuous consumption in midtown, you have many choices of Hilton properties nearby...including the Hilton Garden Times Square, the Hilton Times Square, the Doubletree Metropolitan, the Doubletree Times Square, the Hilton New York, or the Waldorf-Astoria. All of those are within reasonable walking distance of, for instance, Rockefeller Center. What are the Top Must Do Christmas in New York Activities?go to the rockefeller center and see the giant tree. Thats always a must and possibly go ice-skating.
1) skating at Rockerfeller Center.
2) Santa at Macy's
3)St Patrick's Cathedral
4) Radio City Music Hall
5) 5th Avenue
6) Little Italy
7) South Street Seaport

Jumping off the empire state building is a new activity for the fool hardy with a chute. What are the Top Must Do Christmas in New York Activities?
1. MACYS---a must see and ANY store window---NYC really decks the halls out on EVERY store window display..
2. Rockefeller Center... skating and the HUGE lit Christmas Tree
3. Radio City Music Hall... they put on a beautiful Christmas show---with the world famous (and very beautiful) Rockettes
4. Madison Square Guarden... basketball games... and Might find a concert there around this time of year.
5. Empire State Building... it is ALWAYS well decked out for the Christmas season..
The HILTONS do not run NYC and ANYONE can go into any of these places mentioned... Midnight mass can ONLY be at St. Patricks Cathedral---but go early to get a seat--it is the biggest and most beautiful church in all of NYC.... Christmas dinner- - - - - I'd call a few restaurants... GOOGLE restaurants, New York City... you may have to call to see if they are even open... HOWEVER.... two REALLY GOOD places to eat would be the Tavern on the Green and the Russian Tea Room.... they both serve EXTREMELY good food and desserts...

What are some Christmas Eve dinner ideas for a family of 3 ?
Not a turkey dinner because that is what my family and I are having for Christmas Day dinner. I live in Regina, Canada, if that matters. What are some Christmas Eve dinner ideas for a family of 3 ?That depends on what you guys like to eat and if you want it to be very elegant or casual. In my family it's become a recent tradition that everybody gets their favorite kind of pizza. We all like different kinds of pizza, and from different places, so this is the one time of year no one ends up angry if we get pizza. It sounds silly, but it's a lot of fun. Of course, that can be expensive depending on what kind of pizza or where it's from.
Before this tradition, we've kept it simple. Everyone is just so busy on Christmas Eve and nervous/excited about the next day that no one cares about making a fancy dinner. If that's the case in your family, think simple. Something you could cook in a crockpot, boxed mac and cheese, frozen dinners, take out, sandwiches, soup. If you have more time, like the pizza thing, let everyone pick the one dish they want and just make it. Who cares if dinner ends up being waffles, french fries, and mashed potatoes? I'm afraid I can't really help you if you want elegant ideas, though. Anyway, good luck, and Merry Christmas! What are some Christmas Eve dinner ideas for a family of 3 ?
If there are only 3 of you, if your looking for a traditional type dinner, with turkey, ham, dressing, veggie sides, and such its easier, MUCH less expensive, and actually pretty tasty to pre-order your food from a deli. All you have to do is pick it up, put it in your own nice dishes, light a few candles and use some nice napkins and it will look and taste like you spent all day cooking!
However....... if you want to go a different direction I would do something the whole family can take part in, and everyone pick two dishes they love and are willing to make, then let them research the best recipes for the dish like on allrecipes.com or another recipe site and let everyone make a couple of their favorites. This will make everyone feel like they have helped, and are a part of it, and to make it even more fun take votes on the best dishes, and reward with gift cards or something fun! What are some Christmas Eve dinner ideas for a family of 3 ?You should make party food like little sandwiches and sausage rolls, dips, chips that kinda thing and drink hot chocolate by the fire with marshmallows and chestnuts then go to your local pub!!!! Something quick and easy to make, you don't want anything too rich because you will have enough of that on Christmas and over Christmas xxxx
MERRY CHRISTMASWhat are some Christmas Eve dinner ideas for a family of 3 ?
Hmmm I would say something that you usually eat. Not too fancy. Maybe a roast chicken or a ham. Mash potatoes or corn. Or even macoroni. Your choice. What are some Christmas Eve dinner ideas for a family of 3 ?Lasgne.

How much do you think is appropriate to spend on Christmas presents amongst women friends?
We have a group of 6 friends...all women %26amp; we are planning to do a Christmas gift exchange.
What do you think is the appropriate amount to spend?
I think that $50 is more than sufficient with the current economy %26amp; all.
Some people want to spend $100 - but I think this is too much as one of our group has young children %26amp; another has been laid off.
Am I being cheap????How much do you think is appropriate to spend on Christmas presents amongst women friends?I think $10 is fine. That's enough for a humorous cat book or some spring bulbs or packages of seeds or a small plant or clever bookmarks or cloth grocery bags (or the $1 ones from Trader Joe's that I gave one year) or some kind of ornament, like the one I got made in a Third World country with shiny magazine pages folded up %26amp; glued to an ornament or a necklace (like the $1 one I bought) or cat statue ($5) from flea market or thrift shop...You get the idea...something fun that says you care, but also something that's well, cheap. It's truly the thought that counts. Sometimes it really would be easier to spend more, but what for?
Here's another idea: Get a mug from a thrift store--I like the clear glass ones--%26amp; fill it with homemade cookies %26amp; tie it with a pretty ribbon. Or bake mini-loaves of bread or whatever, just enough for a single gal to slice %26amp; enjoy for a couple of days during the holidays.
Or how about a bottle of sparkling juice or flavored water in one of those bottle-sized gift bags, just in time for the New Year. Lots of us, as we get older, are happy if it's not wine or something with alcohol. It may be more welcome as a party gift if it's not, especially with all the crack-downs on drunken driving.
Again, what's that $50-$100 idea? We just never did that. Better to use it on family or 5 toys for needy kids or other charity donation or food for ourselves or just about anything. As you say, it's ridiculous to spend so much in this economy, %26amp; you certainly don't want people to feel indebted to spend this much just to maintain the friendship. Better to spend $20 per person %26amp; enjoy a special lunch together or pool your money to buy treats for coffee %26amp; brunch at someone's house.
Now that I think about it, why not forget the whole gift thing %26amp; host a brunch. Find out what a local women's shelter could use: new socks, kids' books, just little gifts, or whatever, %26amp; have each person bring that item instead of having an expensive gift exchange. Be the leader %26amp; get several friends to agree on that idea, %26amp; then you're on to it.
Alternatively, you could host a cookie exchange or a paperback book exchange, or whatever. Let your interests be your guide.
Enjoy! How much do you think is appropriate to spend on Christmas presents amongst women friends?
no...economy these days has been treating every one poorly and i think if you all have small children you may want to spend it on them....spoil them a little...because i recently have been fired from my job and i have been struggling and i just want my family to have a nice christmas and i wish every1 who reads this a merry christmas! and no youre not being cheep! its wouldnt be fair if you spent more money on friends then your own family and kids......god blessHow much do you think is appropriate to spend on Christmas presents amongst women friends?the limit should be 45$ but no less then like 25$How much do you think is appropriate to spend on Christmas presents amongst women friends?

* 1 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 2/3 cup white sugar
* 6 tablespoons butter
* 1 egg
* 1 egg yolk
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. Sift together the flour, 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, baking powder and salt, set aside. In a medium bowl, cream together the 2/3 cup sugar and butter. Beat in 1 egg, egg yolk and vanilla. Stir in the dry ingredients.
3. On a lightly floured surface, divide dough into two pieces. Roll each piece into a log about 9 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. Place logs on the prepared baking sheet and flatten slightly. Brush with the beaten egg.
4. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden and firm to the touch. Cool for 15 minutes.
5. On a cutting board, slice each log crosswise at a diagonal into 1/2 inch slices, using a serrated knife. Place back on the baking sheet, cut side down, and sprinkle with a mixture of the remaining cinnamon and sugar. Return to the oven for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, until toasted. Cool on wire racks, and store in an airtight container.
